August 2, 2014 Humid But Not Very Hot Day Sees 203 Visitors

August 2, 2014

The gray skies and the threat of rain could not dampen the spirits of our volunteers or our visitors as we welcomed 203 people from far and wide- including 4 visitors from as far away as Switzerland. Senator Roy Dyson stopped by to see how the lighthouse is doing and to check in on our volunteers. Our volunteer, Brenda Carroll- a Yeatman descendent- welcomed a group of visitors from some of her Yeatman kin, who visited their ancestor's home place. We continued our sticker program for those visitors who climbed the tower into the lantern room. The stickers were designed for kids- of all ages.

Did you get an "I climbed Point Lookout Light" sticker? Be sure to ask for one next time you climb the tower!

Flags Flying Proudly

The nice breeze kept the flags flying, the bugs at bay and the humidity tolerable.

Volunteer Kim Hammond gives out stickers to visitors after they climbed the steps to the lantern room and enjoyed the spectacular views.

The swamp rose is the largest since we began our adopt a swamp rose program.
