December 28, 2010 Cold Weather Makes for Spectacular Views on Lighthouse Complex Grounds

December 28, 2010

The early December winter weather made for an interesting view scape at the lighthouse. During the "off season", PLLPS volunteers will be visiting the lighthouse to ensure that the winter weather hasn't caused any problems. Special thanks to volunteer Chuck Kohls for checking on the lighthouse and providing us with these spectacular pictures! Nor'Easters in the winter months can be as bad - or worse- than summertime hurricanes.

Snow is still on the ground on the Potomac River side of the lighthouse.

Looking West toward the Potomac River. The wind blew water up on the fence, where it froze!

A closer view of the ice that formed on the fence.

Another section of frozen fence.
