PLLPS to Host Third Annual Feel the History 5K -Take Some History Home with You Race/Walk

With brand new Kiddie Dash and Costume Contest


Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 8:30 am for the Kiddie Dash, 9 am for Runners, 9:15 for Walkers and Dogs


The third annual Feel the History 5k will be held Saturday, October 12th at 9 am at the Point Lookout State park picnic area. New this year is the 20 meter kiddie dash for ages 2-4 and 5-7, complete with a medal for each child. In the spirit of the season, we will also be offering a special prize for the best in costume! The course has been slightly redesigned for an easier entrance into the finish line chute. Also, LiZard timing will be out this year to provide professional results timing.

NOTE: Pre-registration is $20 per person, $5 for each child or dog Same day registration, on a space available basis will be $25 per person, $5 for dogs on race day. We ordered extra t-shirts for walk-ups, but a t-shirt is not guaranteed, first come first served! Hope to see you there.


Join us for the third annual Feel the History 5K Race, located in the beautiful Point Lookout State Park in Scotland, Maryland. Runners and walkers alike will enjoy the varied scenery from woods to water to historical structures- something for everyone to see. Walkers are also welcome to bring their pets to this family friendly walk. Kids under 12 walk free with a participating adult! The event will be held rain or shine and includes entry to the lighthouse, which will be open from 9:30 to noon.

Registration begins at 8 am at the picnic area of the park. The race will begin at the picnic area of the park at 9 am on Saturday, October 12th for runners and at 9:15 am for the walkers and pets. All proceeds to benefit the Point Lookout Lighthouse Preservation Society and will help restore the lighthouse to the 1927 time period.

The first 3 racers to cross the finish line will win a prize. We will also be awarding prizes to our walkers for all sorts of fun categories. Not to worry, we won't forget the pups either!

The cost to enter is $20 per participant in advance, which includes a t-shirt. Limited spaces may be available on race day for $25 per person; t-shirts not guaranteed for those registering after September 25th. Pets are $5 each, children 12 and under free with a participating adult.

Parking is free for participants, $5 per car for everyone else.
